Ape Coin

A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System
For The Species That Comes Next

Twitter

The idea

Bitcoin was not the first design he finished. Before it there was APE, written after watching Planet of the Apes.

What stayed with him was not the ending but the premise. A civilisation that has already destroyed itself, and a species inheriting the wreckage with no institution left standing to trust.

Which is the same problem as electronic cash, stated more honestly than it usually gets stated. They cannot appeal to a central bank, because there isn't one and there is never going to be one again.

They need money that works without it.

This is not a release. There is no code to download and there may never be.

Tell me what is wrong with it. That is what I am posting for.

about the 60 second blocks, i run two machines on different ISPs and i already see them disagree sometimes. can you do 5 minutes as a compromise?

Most people announce a thing and then spend a year defending it. Asking to be argued with before a line of code exists is the right way around.

My advice is to write the paper before the code, and to leave the ape out of the paper.
